A repository for all those links that find their way into my bookmarks folder or desktop and are interesting enough to save for some reason but not interesting enough to talk about or probably ever visit again.

I've been digging on Pandora Internet Radio for a few weeks now. I even have my own station that provides me with just the sort of music I love. Be forewarned: If you don't like super-relaxing piano music, you won't like my station. :)
Magic Names for Mystic Cats
Magic Names for Mystic Cats is a nice collection of great names for cats from around the world.

Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers: It's nice to know I am not the only one who takes standard tunes and turns them into kitty-cat songs.

Thousands of names for your dog, horse, cat, pet or child! If you can't find a name for whatever needs naming here, you won't find one anywhere else.
Alice
Alice: Free, Easy, Interactive 3D Graphics for the WWW:
"Alice v2.0 is the next major version of the Alice 3D Authoring system, from the Stage3 Research Group at Carnegie Mellon University. It has been completely rewritten from scratch over the past few years.
The focus of the Alice project is now to provide the best possible first exposure to programming for students ranging from middle schoolers to college students."
Helluva Job
"'We've done a helluva job here at home in terms of homeland security.'"
Cheney still obviously believes that if you say something often enough it will become true whether it is or not.
USA vs. Bill Keller
The United States of America vs. 'New York Times' Editor Bill Keller:
"How hard is it to be executive editor of the New York Times today? The White House calls him a traitor. He gets roasted every day on talk shows and blogs. The newsroom is losing faith. The paper is shrinking. And the worst part is that fighting back means overcoming his own nature."
Halloween
Halloween by Martha Stewart. Roll your eyes, if you must, but there are some great ideas here.
Lame Spoof
Lame spoof of Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" - paid for by Exxon. It showed up on YouTube, seemingly made by some random someone ... but it wasn't.
2 Second Fold
How to fold a t-shirt in 2 seconds is a fantastic video of an awesome way to quickly fold t-shirts brought to you by a cool site called VideoJug.
Scared Kids - Scared Parents
"According to the National Mental Health Information Center, 13% of American children ages 9 to 17 suffer from anxiety disorders in a one-year prevalence rate. This is a striking increase over the number of children who felt anxious in the 1950s, as psychology professor Jean Twenge of San Diego State University points out in her book, Generation Me: Why Today's Young Americans Are More Confident, Assertive, Entitled — and More Miserable than Ever Before. The average child, Twenge told me, reports more anxiety than child psychiatric patients did 50 years ago.
These are not the children of Beirut and Israel's Haifa, nor of Afghanistan. These are American kids being terrified of math tests and bicycles.
“Why,” asks California-based child psychologist Madeline Levine, “are the most advantaged kids in this country running into unprecedented levels of mental illness and emotional distress?”"
I'd say it has a lot to do with being raised by a bunch of wusses who are living n fear themselves thanks to the overwhelming amount of fear-mongering going on with the government and media. But that's just my opinion.
2000 uses for WD40
2000 uses for WD40: Not an official list, but I can vouch that many of these really do work.
More Australia and Obesity
Farming rethink 'needed to solve obesity':
Hey, newsflash from Orb: Healthy and fresh foods aren't any more expensive than junk food, but it does require that you put a little effort into what you eat ... like maybe cooking from time to time. Also, fast food in moderation isn't all that evil. We eat fast food, sometimes quite a bit of it, and we aren't exactly getting obese.
"WORLD leaders need to force an end to 'crazy' agricultural policies that fuel the global obesity epidemic by keeping unhealthy food cheap, a conference has been told."

Super Scientology Powers
An old article but worth ready for the entertainment value" Tampabay: Scientology nearly ready to unveil Super Power.
Really, you have to read the list of Super Powers. It includes such things as "Perception of having perceived (past and present)." Yeah, I told you it was funny.

The Parents are Where?
"'If you put a child in a sweet shop and say, 'Choose not to consume that', it's an almost impossible responsibility from people who don't have the capacity to make that sort of choice,' Mr Rigby said."
Which is why children have parents who should be making these decisions for them. Yes, more complaining about fast food advertising.
Once a Month Cooking
Once a Month Cooking World: I have long wanted to do all my cooking once a month and stash it in the freezer, but as much as I love cooking, I don't think I'd love doing that much all at once ... nor would I like not cooking at all the rest of the month. Might have to try it one of these days and see how it goes.
Salad Dressing Recipes
Nice collection of salad dressing recipes. I might have posted this before, but I can't remember, and I am too lazy to check.
Irish Oranges
I want to make me one of these crochet shawls! So easy and so pretty too, though maybe not in orange. I'm not big on orange.
Roasted Tomatoes
I have got to make me some of these roasted tomatoes. They look so good they've made me hungry.
Lie By Lie
Lie By Lie: Chronicle of a War Foretold.
Definitely worth looking at for anyone interested in how the USA actually came to be involved in what looks like an endless war.

Harry Potter is 'king of darkness'
"Amorth compared the Potter character to dictators Stalin and Hitler, saying they were possessed by the devil.
'You can tell by their behavior and their actions, from the horrors they committed and the atrocities that were committed on their orders. That's why we need to defend society from demons,' said Amorth, who has reportedly performed 30,000 exorcisms."
Apparently the Catholic Church still doesn't have anything better to do than determine which fictional characters are the devil incarnate.
Laugh A Little
For Those Who Take Life Too Seriously: A collection of funny statements such as "Save the whales. Collect the whole set." Very cute.
School Lunch
Want to get some idea of what kids get at school lunches these days? Here's a photoset on Flickr that will quench your desire to know. Personally, I think it all looks pretty good and not nearly as awful as the some people seem to think it is.
